Almost as much fun as throwing your money down a storm drain

1.  It must be a real joy to be in the next cubicle from this woman, don't you think?  It takes her roughly half an hour to get her freaking phone out of her freaking bag.

2.  I've never understood what exactly is "fun" about buying lottery tickets.  Is it the approximately 8 seconds it takes to scratch off that silver stuff to find out you spent $2-$20 on a piece of cardboard?  Why is that fun, exactly?

3.  I bet the laughing ball thing is an App, and if it's not, the YouTube glue-sniffers are begging for it to become one.  I hate this century so very much.

  1. Funny you should ask Question #2: whether the "fun" about buying lottery tickets is "the approximately 8 seconds it takes to scratch off that silver stuff to find out you spent $2-$20 on a piece of cardboard." Because as it so happens, an advertising agency here in Cleveland has decided (thanks to listening to several no-life people they recruited to participate in focus groups) that yes, that's precisely it. People derive a great deal of emotional satisfaction from the mere act of scratching their scratch-off tickets. Winning? Doesn't matter. The pleasure is all in the scratching. So pleasurable, in fact, is scratching, that if a lottery player doesn't have a scratch-off ticket to satiate his lust for scratching, he's liable to jump right into a patch of poison ivy. On purpose. Just to give himself an excuse to scratch.

And they're going to build an entire campaign for the Ohio Lottery based on this concept. You can read all about it here: http://nyti.ms/1mePE85

What can I say? Other than "Be glad you don't live in Ohio," that is?

  2. Isn't paying the stupidity tax the same thing AS tossing money down a storm drain?
