Jimmy Walker's Medicare Commercial is beyond sad

I mean, at least we all recognize Joe Namath.  When Joe Namath picks up his ill-begotten paycheck for pimping this crap he can take some comfort in the fact that he didn't have to decorate the background with Extremely Un-Subtle Reminders of who he is so that the elderly people watching this nonsense didn't wonder who was trying to pitch them "extra" Medicare "insurance."

Poor Jimmy Walker has to remind us that we knew him as "JJ" and for a really dumb, best-forgotten and certainly unsung and unwept punchline that was all the rage for fifteen minutes back in the mid-70s.  Like Jimmy Walker himself.  I wonder how much this company paid him to screech "Dinomite!," considering he's probably been willing to do it for free for the past forty years for anyone willing to pose with him, ask for an autograph, and otherwise acknowledge him as a flash-in-the-pan one trick pony whose time ran out before I graduated from eighth grade.  That GEICO gig didn't come through, huh, "JJ?"

The Good Times are over, and they ain't comin' back, Jimmy.  And nostalgia ain't what it used to be, either.

    1. If you make real low income you can get the $100 back a month the only way. I guarantee he makes too much money and he doesn't get the $100 back a month

    2. Only people with low income get the $100 back.

  2. Lots of people swallow the get rich rhetoric peddled by Capitalism's hucksters. Sad. Thinking maybe Socialism would be better all around. Especially now that it is harder to evade scrutiny. At least JJ would not have to lose his dignity. Complicated issue.

  3. Even though I agree with most of what you said about JJ, I was glad to see that JJ got this commercial. I hope he gets other offers as well.

    1. Sometimes you have to realize when it's over it's over. He is the most irritating person on tv. He hasn't aged well and he is no longer relevant to the ever changing entertainment world. I am 73 and he was irritating on Good Times so I surely don't want to see him or hear his voice when I am watching my Court shows. Poof be gone Jimmy Walker!

  4. The moment this ad comes on, I reach for the “clicker”. Hearing JJ over-emphasize the words “money” and “NOW!!!” Drive me over the edge.

    7. Why do the people who made this commercial think this one has value??? Goes to show how low companies can go. I mute the TV when this comes on.

  5. Quality and integrity of a product doesn't exist for the companies that use them for a tax write off.
Why cant we do something about annoyance of commercials? There should be some kind of standard set under law that protects the public from humiliation especially when it boils down to annoying creepy people.

  6. Somehow, the writers of these horrible commercials have not reached their collective basis until the latest in "JJ" Jimmy Walker ads just released. He went for annoying beyond and above3 and achieved this dubious stature with his despicable delivery of three words: money, free and dy-no- mite. I pity the old fool!

  10. I knew it wasn't just me. When he says the words "muuneee" and "nowww" it's worse than hearing the proverbial "chalk screeching against the blackboard". Just hearing him say "dynomite" was bad enough on the first commercial. His vocal tone and pitch are insufferable. Thank God for the mute and channel buttons. I do admit that hearing the comments from others who feel the same way was very entertaining!

    1. SAME!! I'm sure he's a nice guy, but who ok'd this commercial for tv?? I honestly don't think I've ever been so annoyed with a commercial. Couldn't the director have said "Jimmie, please tone it down when you get to the words "money" and "now".

  12. OMG!! I thought there MAY be others who agree with my feelings on this jerk, but never realized to what extent! LMAO! I have to mute my TV every time he comes on ~ I would never have believed that he could have been anymore irritating than he already was, but his NEW commercials are like hearing nails on a chalkboard! He has SO MANY pictures of himself around him and people STILL DON' T KNOW WHO HE IS!! His " call NOOOOOWWWWW" is just TOO ,TOO MUCH and his "FREEEEEEE" is even worse! The fact that his commercials often run back to back annoys me to the quick! They really need to take this jerk off the air, perhaps give his spot to some other celebrity ~ or EVEN BETTER, start using normal, everyday seniors to promote the product they're trying to sell! WE are the ones being targeted, why not help US pad our bank account? SO MANY seniors are living below poverty level, myself included, until this year when we received a halfway DECENT COLA (cost of living adjustment)....PLEASE! Get this idiot off the air!!!

  15. We all like to make fun of J.J. but it really is a very sad commentary on how bad actors get spit out of the hollywood circle. I am sure he need employment, I wonder if he gets any residual check for re-runs that are airing of Good Times. I wonder how much longer he can manage to get paid for those Medicare Commercials. He is horrible, those Advantage plans are not a good investment and his exploitation is just wrong.

  27. Current reality in America would have been a fantastic episode of The Outer Limits or The Twilight Zone back in the day- this is all some bizarre form of Chinese torture/Russian mind- control. I turn on the telly to see Jimmy Walker, Joe Namath, George Foreman, William Shatner, and Ice-T all during a single commercial break, one after another like a sick psychological gangbang of malicious misadvertising by greedy bastards shamelessly flouting their greed (and apparently challenging themselves to create the most cringeworthy ads yet) banking on manipulating a gullible, lonely, desperate, or poorly-insured elderly viewer into calling.

Then to add insult to injury, they paste all the Medicare Advantage commercials together with misleading auto warranty and repair services, (how desperate is Ice-T to make a commercial in which he calls himself "your boy"? I dare you to try calling him your boy). Finally, add in some religious guilt with Amazing Grace and tap those emotions with puppy-eyed, tearful pleas for donations- to save the elephants, save abused pets, shelter homeless children, feed poor children breakfast AND a snack, save the elderly Jews of Russia, or help Shriners hospital give a child a chance at a happy, productive life. For only 19 cents a day!

Now, that $100 you get added back to your social security check? It can be gobbled right up by car warranties and charity donations.

But hey, you'll get an adorable blanket (which you'll need when you're living in your car after losing your ass to scammers), a t-shirt that becomes an affordable gift for that virtue-signaling family member, and you'll be able to sleep like a baby (in your broken down car you can't afford to fix after all the deductibles and monthly fees of your auto warranty), curled up with your adorable Shriners' blanket knowing you obeyed God's command to bless the Jewish people- at least you'll be safe from eternal damnation even if you're not safe from financial ruin! In your new destitute normal, you won't have a TV or phone, so you'll finally be free of Jimmy and Joe floundering and shrieking for you to CALL NOW!

Maybe they should just make one slumgully of a commercial for all-
"Hi Folks! Please, call NOW... so we can take your money and give you false hope!!! For only 19 cents a day you too can support washed up stars and has been athletes make more ridiculous commercials for us in YOUR ZIP CODE! Call NOW or we'll never release Jimmy Walker from our basement where we've been forcing him to make commercials with increasingly obsequious scripts, grating vocals, and wild gesticulations AND slather self-tanner on Joe Namath head-to-toe when he's not flailing in front of the camera! Call NOW or we start killing puppies and abusing kids and send elephants to trample your car! Call NOW (or get what you deserve!)

    Seriously.

I know, my sarcasm is extreme and my rant equally ridiculous and excessive, but it's sadly not as ridiculous as these disgusting illustrations of the state of society.

When you have some time, do your part to fight back- give one of those grifts a call and have some fun messing with their minds a while.

    Gee....

I'll feel quite awful if they really are holding Jimmy hostage. Better watch the commercials again and look for hidden messages. Maybe he's blinking in morse code or something. I'll find my tinfoil and get to work on that.

    1. I can't believe I took the time to read these. I was up early and my tv was on the news. Well you know what came on back to back. That's right..JJ. So anyway I was wondering is it me,is there anyone else out there that feel the way I do about that commercial. Even the other commercial that was mentioned. Omg there are others that feel like me. Sometimes for a commercial I wish the left the screen black with a count down clock for coming back to the TV show. So anyway I was reading your comment and I could not stop laughing and agreeing with you at the same time. Wanted to say you gathered up my whole feelings on these commercial with great humor

  31. I love the thing. Out of all those Medicare advantage commercials, I think that one is the best. JJ comes across as a lovable character and he doesn't tell any lies that the rest of them don't tell.
